Around here in May. . .

Monday, May 21st, 2012

May can be a rough month for me with the anniversary of my Mom’s passing, Mother’s Day, and her birthday, so I’ve been kind of laying low around here and trying to celebrate life as much as I can. A little snippet of the month. . .

Rose gardening. . .

The first heirlooms making an appearance. . .

Dedicating this month’s chalkboard wall to the best mom in the world. . .

Growing the most beautiful poppies I’ve ever seen (and experimenting with new pendant shapes). . .

Learning the “art” of dirtbike riding. . .

Fermenting our own whiskey. . .

. . .for Derby Day!!

And hanging out with these guys (they always make me smile). . .

Thanks for visiting me here! Hope you’re having a fabulous month! xo

Spring!

Tuesday, April 10th, 2012

It’s been a busy spring so far – finishing this semester, celebrating my birthday, a little health scare with my Dad, tilling the gardens, working on a new collection, and trying to enjoy as much of it as we can. . .

I’ve been back to baking a LOT of bread lately. . .

Reading the best book on artisan bread in a long time. . .

The dogs enjoy the field while I get the garden seeded (finally!). . .

Building terrariums. . .

Home concerts. . .

Playing around with our new chalkboard wall. . .

Looking forward to the next Flea off Market this weekend. . .

and some time outdoors. . .

What are you up to this season? Hope you’re having a fabulous week! xo

de Kooning

Thursday, December 8th, 2011

A couple weeks ago we visited MoMA to see the de Kooning Retrospective. I can’t stop thinking about it. It’s awe-inspiring. I’ve decided to base my next collection on interpreting the subject matter and vision of some of these Masters into metalsmithed representations. In some form.

If you’re in NYC, I highly recommend seeing this exhibit; if not, you can see a small interactive version here

We’re gonna miss this place. . .

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

It’s official – we’re moving! We’re really going to miss our little house and this close-knit community we’ve been a part of for the past several years. The second we walked in the door (what seems like a lifetime ago) we knew this house felt like home. But we’ve outgrown it here by leaps and bounds. So, we’re moving across town to my childhood home. The kids will get their own rooms, a study for reading and homework, a bigger (and more private) studio for me, a lot of land for the dogs, an arts & crafts room for the girls, and plenty of garage space for vintage motorcycle work for the boys. We’re soooo excited (albeit a little sentimental about leaving our neighborhood family)! The Anthropologie garlands will be finished and shipped this week, and then I’m taking some time off to settle us into our new digs!

Hope you’re having a fabulous week! xo
